Lichfield hit Highgate for eight to move closer to Midland Premier Division title
Lichfield City romped to a resounding 8-0 victory over Highgate United to maintain their four-point lead at the top of the Midland League Premier Division.
Callum Griffin and Joe Spiers both bagged braces while Joe Haines, Leighton McMenemy, Callum Rudd and substitute Jordan Clement completed the rout.
Second-place Shifnal Town beat midtable Stone Old Alleynians 2-0 to keep their own title hopes alive courtesy of goals from Sam Fitzgerald and Lewis Jarman.
Brocton moved to within three points of a guaranteed play-off spot after drawing 0-0 at Northwich Victoria.
They have the chance to confirm a place in the play-offs when they face Highgate United at Silkmore Lane on Saturday.
"I'm pleased with the turnaround and we are getting players back from injury," said Brocton boss Alex Curtis.
"Our next two games will be on good pitches which we look forward to. If we are going to get into the play-offs, we need those couple of wins to get us moving in the right direction."
Dudley Town were cut nine points adrift of the play-off places after being held to a goalless stalemate away against Stourport Swifts.

AFC Wulfrunians collected back-to-back away wins after prevailing 3-2 in an entertaining trip to Tividale.
Freddie Cockerill missed from the spot inside seven minutes but redeemed himself by opening the scoring on the quarter-hour mark with an excellent volley.
Matt Holland equalised for Tividale on the cusp of half-time before Tui Sanchez restored Wulfrunians' lead after the break.
Cockerill doubled his tally and Wulfrunians' advantage and Alfie Higgs reduced the arrears for Tividale who remain just one-point above the drop zone with a game in hand.
