Darts round-up: Wednesfield Cons claim league title in debut season

Wednesfield Cons have claimed the Coseley Friday Singles and Doubles titles in their first season, rounding off with a 4-1 victory over Three Crowns, writes Paul Walters.

The league’s ‘most-wins’ man Darren Williams, alongside Wayne Jones, Gavin Baker and Chris Slater were Cons’ winners.

Hotshots won second place after a shootout with Parkes Hall A ended 4-1. Matt Coleman, Jamie Hughes, Steve Jones and Ryan O’Connor did the damage.

Allens A finish with 5-0 success over Gornal Labour thanks to Alan Smith, Wayne Hobday, Sam Bissell, Russ Inns and Adam Evans.

The Wednesfield Sunday League looks to become a two-horse race after leaders Glassy Junction defeated third-placed Gilberts A 5-1. Callum Parkes, Jack Aldridge, Rob Thompson, Luke Griffiths and Sean Bastable all won.

Wednesfield Cons kept the pressure on by beating Dog & Partridge 5-1, thanks to Dave Lucas, Mark Frumenzi, Connor Lucas, Kieron O’Driscoll and Craig Locker.

Wednesfield Legion remain fourth after a 6-0 success over The County. Ryan Bourne, Craig Skitt, Nick Skitt, Sid Bourne, Phil Mayo and Rich Newey were crucial.

Unbeaten Junction B moved top of the Tettenhall Wednesday League after beating current Leaders Moreton Arms 5-2 courtesy of Martin Price, Ben Johnson, Ryan Bate, Ryan O’Connor and Callum Parkes.

Firs Codsall had a great 6-1 success over Dog & Partridge A, as Tony Durnall, Jack Holt, Craig Skitt, Jono Handley, Rhys Jones and Ryan Bailey did the damage.

Swan Compton won a tight 4-3 battle with The Pilot. John Mycock Jnr, Mick Scott and Nige Southwick won, before deciding-leg hero Dave Gamble sealed the win. Claregate’s Scott Lewis was another last-leg hero as they beat Charlie’s Bar 4-3.

Leaders Staffs Knot produce another whitewash in the West Midlands Superleague, thrashing Gilberts B. Jack Aldridge, Jamie Hughes, Shane Price, Martin Price and Luke Griffiths all won.

Dog & Partridge defeated Junction B 5-0 thanks to Gavin Baker, Dean Fullwood, Karl Hughes, Chris Slater and Ryan O’Connor, while Kings’ Head had a great 4-1 success over Chase Social courtesy of Matt Dennant, Owen Maiden, Mark Maiden and Rich Platt.

Gilberts A clinched the Wolverhampton Tuesday League Knockout Cup, defeating League Winners Junction B 4-0 in the final. Steve Lynch, Jon Blakemore and Chris Hill and match-winner Simon Pritchard triumphed for Gilberts.
