Not because of the quality between Albion and their rivals gunning for fifth and sixth, but because of the sheer inconsistency that has blighted all of the Championship this season.

It looks like the pocket of clubs pushing for the final play-off spots will continue to stumble over each other until the first weekend of May.

Saturday was a shocking outcome for Tony Mowbray and his side. Not shocking because of the surprise factor, but shocking because of the timing and manner of Josh Sargent's 92nd-minute winner at the end of a game in which the visitors were the better side at Carrow Road.

It looked as if a huge case of deja vu was on the horizon as Albion appeared to meander their way to another draw at 0-0.

Mowbray was right that his side were the better team. Particularly in the first half the Baggies were bright and had the lion's share of the half. The second period, though, brought little of the sort. The sides huffed and puffed either side of the hour as the Canaries - who were mostly really poor, nervy and anxiety-ridden - found some belief they could take at least a point.

The reaction come full-time was one of huge frustration. Albion find it so difficult to create chance and score goals required to win an acceptable amount of games.

The Baggies are - somehow - still sixth having only managed 13 victories in 39 league games this season. One-third. Rivals just above and below Albion have won 14, 15, 16 or 17 games. It remains startling.

We all know it is mostly down to the draws. Many, many of them under Carlos Corberan. Far too many. Albion were seconds away from a 19th of the league season.
