January recruit Price has enjoyed a fine start to his Albion career and signed off for the break a fortnight ago with his first goal for the club.
The versatile 21-year-old, a midfielder by trade, continued his freakishly impressive scoring record for Northern Ireland, however, with a goal in each of his nation's friendly results, a 1-1 draw against Switzerland and 5-1 defeat to Sweden, in which he played 90 minutes twice.
The opener in the draw against Switzerland was a belting free-kick and was another show of quality from the former Everton and Standard Liege utility man ahead of Albion's Championship resumption at Norwich.
Mowbray was pleased to see Price step up, regardless of not having the biggest personality in his squad. “What generally happens is the bigger personalities on the pitch generally decide whether they are going to take it or not," Mowbray said of Price, who made it eight goals in 20 caps.
"If (John) Swift is on the pitch, I think it would be pretty difficult. I would suggest he thinks he could put another one in the top corner.
“And yet Isaac will be definitely feeling as if ‘let me have a go’. But Isaac’s personality isn’t one that is to the point where he is going to tell you 'I am taking it. Get off the ball. I am having it'.
“Some footballers I’ve been with would grab the ball for penalties and stuff like that. They are taking it and nobody is getting the ball. I know Isaac has not got that personality and yet it was great to see that he had the trust of the team and the management at Northern Ireland to be the one who strikes the ball and obviously he stuck it really well.”
The £2.5million capture from Belgium outfit Standard wasted no time in making a big impression on his new club.
He has already played in multiple roles from attacking midfield to right-back for Mowbray's side. Price's energy levels have been infectious to supporters and valuable to his new head coach.
"I think he wants to play high up the pitch off the left," Mowbray added of Price. "When I say high up the pitch he is not a winger. He likes to come in off wide areas. He would prefer to come on his right foot off the left hand side.
“He scored and could have scored a couple more (at right-back against Hull). I think we are just utilising his energy and his legs and his athleticism and he’s happy to do that."
