Defenders Michael Parker and Jamal Mohammed and midfielder Harry Whitwell were drafted into senior training throughout the fortnight away from Championship action with Mowbray's squad lighter on numbers due to call-ups and injuries.
Whitwell, 19, has made his mark on the first-team before and was handed a senior Albion debut more than a year ago but promising defensive duo Parker, 20, and Mohammed, who turns 19 next week, have emerged more recently.
Mowbray's first-team coach James Morrison, who the head coach brought to the club 18 years ago, plays an instrumental role in bringing young players from Richard Beale's under-21 squad to top up numbers when required. Morrison previously held a coaching role with the Baggies.
"It gave us a chance to watch some of the under-21s," Mowbray said of training during the break ahead of his side's return at Norwich on Saturday.
"To make the numbers up you bring them up to training and I've been pleased, the under-21s showed good application and quality. They haven't spoilt the session by not getting up to the standard. They've been good.

"Three or four have trained just about every day with us and it's been really positive, it's given me an insight into pre-season, how they need to play first-team games in pre-season and whether they can genuinely become a part of the squad moving forward."
