You only have to look at the captures of PSG's Marco Asensio and Manchester United's Marcus Rashford in the latest window to see the growing ambition Villa have in the transfer market

And it looks as though they may be looking to one of Europe's top clubs for one of their next targets.

Real Madrid playmaker Arda Guler has reportedly been on the radar of a handful of big clubs over the last year, and was previously linked to Arsenal.

The 20-year-old moved to the club from Fenerbahce back in 2023 for €20 million and has scored nine times in 43 games for the Spanish giants.

Now it seems he is a player who has attracted the attention of Villa.

The club's recruitment chief Monchi was asked about the Turkish international in an interview with Radio Marca, and he stated he is a player who 'fits the profile' at Villa.

“I know him well because he’s a player that every sporting director has followed in his career since Turkey,’ Monchi told Radio Marca.

“He’s a player who met a number of requirements and could be attractive to Aston Villa because we were looking for that position.

“It’s not the same position as Marcos Asensio but we’re more or less looking for that profile between the lines who can play as a No.10 and who can even play on the outside while coming in.

“Personally, I think he’s a player with very good technical skills, and I also think he has personality – he shows it when he plays for the national team.

"There, he takes on roles that aren’t associated with his age.’
