That is the question which is on everyone's lips after a dismal run of two wins since the end of January.

Bradford City have closed the gap at the top to just two points although they squandered the chance to leapfrog Walsall after suffering a 1-0 defeat at Gillingham on Saturday.

Nonetheless, Walsall are sleepwalking their way into the business end of the season.

Their demise has coincided with Nathan Lowe's recall by Stoke City in January but the strong defensive foundations from the first half of the season have also crumbled at an alarming rate.

In the first 23 games, Walsall conceded just 19 times, with six of those coming in a bizarre 6-2 drubbing at the hands of Fleetwood Town at Bescot at the beginning of October last year.

Walsall goalkeeper Tommy Simkin has kept just one clean sheet in 2025.
