West Brom boss provides hopeful update on top scorer Josh Maja

Albion boss Tony Mowbray is hopeful top scorer Josh Maja can play a role in the club's play-off push after injury.

The 12-goal striker is still some way from a return to training and was wearing a protective boot at Albion's training ground this week.

He required surgery on what the club described as a lower leg injury in January and was forecast to be out for a couple of months until the spring. Boss Mowbray this week described Maja's "journey" to full fitness, which is likely to take at least the next few weeks.

"He's a good player, I'd tried to sign him at Blackburn, we know his quality and how good he is," Mowbray said. "He's a bit different to some of the others.
