Lakin was ‘buzzing’ for scorers Ellis Harrison and Levi Amantchi, as they opened their accounts at Walsall alongside Jamille Matt.
The win ended a five-game winless run, after which Walsall are still top of League Two, however Lakin said conversations about the title can wait.
He said: “Since they (Ellis Harrison and Levi Amantchi) have come in, they've both been absolutely outstanding in training on the pitch, off the pitch. They’re both good players.

“I mean, it's not hard to do that when you've got a group, the way we've got, but I'm absolutely buzzing for them both to go and get their goals and then, like I say, hopefully they push on now and get more.”
He added: “There's still a long way to go in the season. There's still a third to go or whatever it is, and a lot can change in that.
“So listen, exactly what the gaffer says. I know it might sound cliché, but you do take every game as it comes, and you knock them off one by one.
“Let's talk about it when we get to the end of April and see where we are then.”
