Taylor Allen set up two goals from corners in Saturday's much-needed 3-1 victory over Chesterfield and Evan Weir came off the bench to break away and lay on the third for Levi Amantchi.

And the boss believes the Saddlers may have the best delivery in the whole of League Two - throwing in Jamie Jellis's name as well.

“Him (Taylor Allen) and Evan (Weir) have fights over it, them pair," said Sadler. "We've got some great delivery as you saw with Evo's delivery to set the third goal up.

“We're blessed with some good, good deliverers in there. Jamie (Jellis), put some great deliveries in as well from the opposite side.

“I mentioned, the pitch is really tough on them. I don't know if everyone's ever walked over those corner part areas.

“There're some really difficult areas to deliver from, especially the far right going towards the away fans, so it's hard for them.

“It's not easy, but today we're on the right side of things, so yeah, pleasing.”

Evan Weir replaced the suspended Taylor Allen for only his third league start.
Evan Weir started against Gillingham after Taylor Allen was suspended, but returned to the bench on Saturday - before coming on to set up the third for Levi Amantchi

The Saddlers were only a goal ahead when 10 minutes of added time were announced, giving Chesterfield more chance to equalise after the game had already become more end-to-end.

“I thought it was definitely a good victory," added Sadler. "As I said Tuesday night, I thought we played really well, especially for the first 70 minutes, and then the next 15, 20 minutes became a little bit of a basketball game,

“But we still did what we needed to do to pick up points on Tuesday night and could have won it.

“But again, that resilience to go 1-0 down and still continue to be who we were and who we are. That's credit to them and testament to them and to the lads, and we're going to need that again.

“There'll be loads of hopefully important wins in in the next few weeks that we might have this conversation again, but it was certainly a good win against a very good team.”

Amantchi’s clinical back-post finish sealed the win in that stoppage time - leading to a huge roar around the Bescot as Walsall ended a five-match winless run.

“I actually thought we took the sting out of the game in the final 10 minutes, really well. Very well indeed, actually. So that was a really pleasing thing. And then to score in that time was great.

“But I think when you score in those moments to win the game, there is an outpouring, isn't there? And you enjoy it that little bit more a goal.

“I'm not a massive one on celebrating goals, but I enjoy ones that definitely win you the game, as that one was.

“I'd rather have two minutes, but we got 10 and we managed to score in it.”
