In his last two full campaigns in the Championship, Albion's on loan striker has finished second in the goal scorers charts having score more than 20 goals on both occasions.

Back in the 2020/21 campaign, while at Blackburn, he netted 28 league goals and was only pipped to the leading goal scorer award by Ivan Toney's superb 31 goal haul.

He arrived at Albion on transfer deadline day with a well publicised reputation of being one of the sharpest finishers in the division over recent campaigns.

And he further solidified that standing by netting on his debut in Albion's dramatic 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

But despite the statistics he has to his name from his recent Championship past - the Southampton loanee has a very firm stance when it comes to setting goals for his time at West Brom.

He said: ""I never set targets," said the on loan forward.

"It puts added pressure onto you. I just take each game as it comes and try and help the boys on the pitch.

"If my goals help then amazing but first and foremost it is about the three points."

Albion's late victory courtesy of Armstrong's strike and a last gasp Jayson Molumby winner on Saturday moved them three points clear of the tightly bunched chasing pack, in the race for the Championship play-offs.

They have 15 games remaining this season and Armstrong believes victories like Saturday, against a play-off rival, could have hold a big significance come the end of he campaign.

"I have been in the Championship for a few years now and this stage of the season is massive.

"You need these wins in these sorts of games. It is a huge victory.

"Every game is important but we wanted to show our dominance and it would have been a shame to get a point so it is massive we got three.

"It is important for momentum too. We take this into Wednesday and then Saturday and it is a fast turnaround in the Championship."
