Palmer, 28, made a sudden exit from The Hawthorns on Monday's transfer deadline as Premier League strugglers Ipswich swooped in with an offer worth up to £5million for the Baggies goalkeeper.
The Kidderminster-born academy graduate showed extreme patience to make his breakthrough at The Hawthorns and having been handed the opportunity in late 2022 he went on to reach 100 games in two-and-a-half years as Albion number one.
Palmer made the switch to Portman Road as the Tractor Boys entered the market for a new goalkeeper after Arijanet Muric's high-profile errors against Southampton in a crunch match in the fight for Premier League survival.
In a statement on Instagram the goalkeeper, who shared the league's golden glove award with Leeds' Illan Meslier last term, described the "honour" of playing at The Hawthorns and going on to achieve 104 first team appearances.
"Baggies fans, I wanted to take a moment to say a massive thank you for all your support during my time at the club, especially over the last three years," Palmer wrote on social media.
"Playing over 100 games in the senior side is something I used to dream about, and to say I achieved that is something incredibly special to me.
"Playing at The Hawthorns in front of you all was an honour. I have so, so many fond memories of doing that.
"I’d also like to thank all the staff who have played a massive part in helping me become the goalkeeper and the man I am today. I’ve made friends for life. I’m so thankful for that.
"I wish the supporters, the staff and the players nothing but the best for the future. Albion is a special club and one I owe a lot to."
Albion have recalled fellow academy graduate goalkeeper Josh Griffiths from Bristol Rovers. The 23-year-old is expected to take Palmer's place between the sticks.
