Grant lost his place in Albion's starting line-up for the 5-1 victory over Portsmouth as Jed Wallace and Grady Diangana were most advanced, despite neither being a natural striker.

Former Charlton and Huddersfield man Grant is enjoying a renaissance with Albion this season having returned from his loan at Cardiff in fine form. By the attacker's own admission he prefers playing in a 'left forward' role - somewhere in between a winger and a centre-forward - and has shone centrally in support of Josh Maja over the last few months.

But Grant was the one to make way in Mowbray's XI as left winger Johnston gave another glimpse of his fine form with a stunning assist for Diangana. The former Celtic man was a constant thorn in Pompey's backline and Johnston now has two goals and five assists in his last four games at The Hawthorns.
