The Walsall boss revealed last week that Maher is edging closer to a return from the ankle injury which saw his loan spell at Tamworth curtailed last month.

Maher made three appearances in all competitions for the National League outfit, scoring his only goal in their famous FA Cup second round tie against Burton Albion.

The teenager has made eight appearances for the Saddlers this term, including two as a second half substitute in the league, with his last coming in August.

Sadler said: "There's lots of thoughts and decisions to be made. We want to make sure with Ronan that he is playing.

"That's the most important thing. So we're not going to rush into anything just yet especially when he is not properly back yet."

Browne is still awaiting his League Two debut after signing for the club in September. The 20-year-old made five appearances during his loan spell at Tamworth earlier in the campaign and has featured twice for Walsall in the EFL Trophy.

But Sadler is still weighing up his options for the remainder of the campaign, with each decision set to be made on a "case by case" basis.

"I'm not sure yet. I want to keep the squad big, I want to keep it moving forward so it's case by case," he continued.

"We'll see when is the right timing with things like that but not decided yet."
