Despite taking an early 2-0 lead through Rayan Ait-Nouri and Rodrigo Gomes, Wolves missed several chances to extend their lead even further before the hosts got back into it.
Pereira was delighted to advance in the competition, but feels his side still have work to do to improve.
"We played a very good first half and we created four or five chances to score, with quality, against a good team," he said.
"They have tactical organisation, have good players and play at home, it's not easy to play here, but we created chances to score more goals.
"At the end of the first half we conceded some balls and in one we lost the ball in transition, conceding the free-kick and they scored.
"They went to half-time with confidence, believing that it was possible to turnover the result, and we went into half-time thinking about the third goal.
