No side has collected more points on home soil than the table topping Saddlers (29) whereas Tranmere have mustered a mere eight on their travels this term.

Rovers have lost five away games in a row in League Two, scoring just twice, and have not tasted victory on the road since beating newly-promoted Bromley on October 19.

They did return to winning ways at Prenton Park after a three-match winless run over the festive period with a 1-0 win over rock bottom Carlisle United last Saturday.

Former Walsall defender Cameron Norman scored the only goal as Tranmere climbed five points clear of the drop zone, with a game in hand over second from bottom Morecambe.

The Saddlers boast over twice as many points (52) than Tranmere's tally of 25 at the midway point and have netted a league-high 43 goals compared to Rovers' league low of 17.

However, Tranmere did beat Walsall 1-0 in the reverse fixture back in August with Omari Patrick scoring the only goal with a deflected finish in the first half.

Patrick, who played with Walsall midfielder Charlie Lakin at Sutton United last season, is the Super White Army's leading goal scorer with eight goals across all competitions, six coming in the league.

The pacy winger has scored in two of his last three matches against the Saddlers after opening the scoring in Sutton's 4-0 win at Gander Green Lane in October 2023.

Tranmere wide man Kieron Morris started his career at Walsall and scored 20 goals in 170 appearances for the club. 43-year-old goalkeeper Joe Murphy also had a pair of loan spells at Bescot between 2004 and 2006.
