As reported by the Express & Star on Tuesday, progress has been made in the search for Carlos Corberan's successor, after the Spaniard departed Albion on Christmas Eve to take over at Valencia.
A number of names have been rumoured to be in the frame for the vacant position at Albion - and the club seem to be edging closer to an appointment.
Following Corberan's departure, the club kicked off a wide ranging search to identify their new head coach and that search has now been completed, with the club putting together a final shortlist.
It is not known how long that shortlist is, but this week interviews are being conducted with different candidates.
Albion are hopeful that a new head coach will then be appointed prior to the return to Championship action against Stoke City on January 18 - and it is expected Chris Brunt, along with Damia Abella and Boaz Myhill will be in charge for the FA Cup clash at AFC Bournemouth on Saturday.
Former Young Boys boss Raphael Wicky shot to the head of the bookmakers' odds on Sunday, with Blackburn Rovers boss John Eustace another name linked to the role.
Albion would be willing to pay compensation for the new head coach but it is thought the preference would be out-of-work managers.
