If the pitch passes the initial inspection, they will conduct another pitch inspection tomorrow morning at 8am with low temperatures forecast overnight.
A club statement on Cheltenham's official X account read: "Keep a close eye on our website, social channels and emails for further updates this afternoon."
League Two leaders Walsall will be searching for a club record eighth consecutive league win if the fixture goes ahead at Cheltenham.
Walsall maintained their 12-point lead at the summit after coming from behind to beat fellow promotion rivals Notts County 2-1 at Meadow Lane on New Year's Day.
The Saddlers have only won seven times on the bounce in league on three occasions in their history and only twice in a single season - the last such run coming in 1959-60.
Meanwhile, former Walsall boss Michael Flynn has tasted defeat just once in his last eight games in League Two (winning three, drawing four).
Flynn spent just over 14 months at the helm with Walsall and was voted League Two Manager of the Month in October 2022.
However, Walsall's potential play-off push faltered dramatically after the turn of the year and Flynn was relieved of his duties after a run of just one win in 21 games in April 2023.
