The former Manchester United and Middlesbrough defender penned a deal with the MLS side back in the summer - but immediately signed for Albion on a six month loan deal.
He was brought in by former manager Carlos Corberan as defensive back-up, but was thrust into the side back in October against Blackburn due to injuries at the back.
However, just four minutes into his second start against Cardiff City, the Northern Ireland international pulled up with a hamstring injury, that all but ended his playing time with Albion.
He returned to training before the Christmas period - and has been named in the squad in recent weeks.
But he failed to make an appearance - and now at the conclusion of his loan he will now head to the US to join up with the MLS side.
