Walsall stretched their lead at the summit to 12 points with a 2-0 victory over Newport County on Sunday to extend their unbeaten run to 13 games in League Two.
The Saddlers have also gone 450 minutes without conceding a single league goal and have registered five consecutive league clean sheets for the first time since February 1975.
Sadler has been impressed by how his side have overcome different challenges to maintain their early title charge but insists that nothing has been achieved yet.
He said: "Whatever the story line is, we all know what we're trying to do, we all know what we're trying to go after and we haven't done that.
"There's still loads of work to do. Every game throws up a different challenge to you. Doncaster on Boxing Day, they changed their shape going into a diamond which we hadn't prepared for.
"We saw it, we overcame it and we drove forward. Then Newport played a different way, some really good football that they played, and we felt frustrated that we hadn't got on top of the game in the way we wanted to.
"But we adjusted, overcame and went forward with it. We've just got to keep trying to do that with all the tests we face this season.
Walsall have improved significantly on the road and equalled their tally of wins from the previous campaign (six) with their 2-0 win at Harrogate Town before Christmas.
Sadler's charges boast the best defensive away record in the division (five goals conceded) and will be searching for a fifth consecutive league clean sheet on their travels for the first time in 43 years.
Maximum points in Nottingham would also secure four away wins on the spin in the league for the first time since 2005.
Boss Sadler is pleased to be delivering special memories for the supporters and the club but has his sights set on creating more between now and the end of the season.
"It's what we wanted to do when we first came. You're right, they're great moments but there's more ahead that we want," he continued.
"We've got a lot of work to do with that. So there's nothing celebratory from me tonight. It's very much head down and go again on the next one."
Midfielder Jack Earing is a strong doubt ahead of the game after being forced off with an ankle issue in the previous win over Newport.
Sadler was unable to provide a time frame on his injury at full-time but admitted that it "didn't look great".
Josh Gordon (hamstring) returned to full training towards the end of last week but will need at least a fortnight to be passed as match fit.
Elsewhere, George Hall (hamstring) and Priestley Farquharson (thigh) remain out with long-term injuries.
Ronan Maher is also recovering from an ankle injury following his loan at Tamworth.
