The Baggies' battling display in the North East was largely praised - as they took on second placed Sunderland with a threadbare backline.
After Ousmane Diakite pulled up in the warm up, Kyle Bartley was only able to complete 45 minutes with midfielder Uros Racic playing in the backline for the second half.
Albion defended well and had a big chance in either half but ground out a respectable point.
But Earnshaw was unhappy Albion didn't take advantage of the space Sunderland were leaving on the counter attack in the second half - especially in the dying seconds when they were attacking the home goal.
He said on Sky Sports: " He said: "It was poor.
"They had three or four bodies in the box and they kept the ball.
"But there was an opportunity in the game where you can go and score, and it may have been three points.
"It is free down the left, go and cross it.
"It was very poor, it maybe shows a lack of confidence where they are getting draws and trying not to lose.
"They are defensively solid but you have got to have something going forward.
"If you are going to try and get to the Premier League you have to score and be defensively sound.
"They are very good defensively but not as good going forward."
