George Bennett predicts Walsall's possible line-up ahead of their FA Cup first round tie against Bolton Wanderers at Bescot on Saturday.

Tommy Simkin has been the preferred choice between the sticks in the league but a return to cup action could present another opportunity to Sam Hornby.

Walsall's second-choice goalkeeper produced shoot-out heroics at Birmingham before showcasing his shot-stopping ability from the spot once more in their 1-0 victory over Fulham under-21s last month.

Mat Sadler has not made any changes to his defence since Walsall's valiant draw against Premier League outfit Leicester City towards the end of last month.

Oisin McEntee has been out of action since suffering a calf injury in August but has been available for the past fortnight. Sadler is waiting for the right time to reintroduce him into the side and this weekend could be the optimum moment to do so.

Although changes will be expected, Sadler will also want to strike the balance between potentially rotating and fielding a team capable of beating Bolton.

Harry Williams has been a colossus in the heart of defence and will have another opportunity to demonstrate his quality against a team from the division above just as he did against Birmingham and Leicester earlier in the season.

Taylor Allen has played every minute for Walsall in the league since mid-February but Evan Weir has slotted in at left centre-back at times in the cup this season.

Ryan Stirk has virtually been an ever-present in the league and the fact that there are no midweek games either side of the Bolton tie suggests he could retain his place although Brandon Comley will be waiting in the wings.

Connor Barrett has quickly established himself as one of the first names on the team sheet after making an excellent start to life at Walsall.

Jamie Jellis has started in all but one league game this season although Ronan Maher has figured from the start in every cup match. Therefore, a familiar pattern appears to be emerging although Jellis' recent form could see him retain his place after two goals in his last three games.

Jack Earing has made an impact from the bench of late but has found starts hard to come by. He scored twice in a 4-0 trouncing of Colchester United last month and proved a threat following his cameo from the bench at Accrington Stanley last weekend.

The former Bolton wing-back made his 100th appearance for Walsall at the Wham Stadium last week and will be expected to keep his place.

Nathan Lowe is undroppable on current form. Eight goals in all competitions so far this term, including four goals in as many games in League Two.

The 35-year-old looks as fit as ever after enjoying a bright start to the season. He has five goals to his name already although Sadler could freshen up the attack with Danny Johnson and Albert Adomah vying for starts.
