Abi Cottam bagged five for Craig Nicholls’ team, Olivia Mitcham scored a hat-trick, and there were further goals from Trina Greaves and Hazanna Parnell. Albion keeper Bec Thomas pulled off a fine penalty save in the opening seconds of the game at 0-0.
“It’s a very good result after last weekend’s defeat (to Middlesbrough),” said Nicholls. “I was pleased for everyone, especially the young players, who I thought were excellent and it’s a great way of giving them experience. I’m happy with the clean-sheet, but even more delighted to be in the semi-final.”
Albion’s next match is at home to Leicester City Ladies in the Women’s Premier League Northern Division this Sunday, March 12.
The Baggies sit ninth in the 11-team league, although they have several games in hand on every other team in the division.
Last season, Albion nearly won promotion out of the third tier and into the Women’s Super League, but were downed 4-2 by Brighton Ladies in a play-off final.
