Former world champion Ken Doherty will be checking in to play a series of exhibition frames with Dudley's 11-time women's world champion Reanne Evans.

The showdown is in aid of the Paul Hunter foundation and the duo will also be cueing off against a number of local players before the evening concludes with punters having the chance to team up alongside Doherty and Evans.

The night has been organised by world snooker coach Andrew Highfield, who plays alongside Evans for Sedgley Ex-Service in the Staffs and West Midlands League and who is a close friend of Doherty.

"It promises to be a good night and there are still tickets up for grabs," said Highfield. "I have known Ken for a good few years and he is very popular on the circuit while Reanne is obviously very well-known around these parts.

"They will play a series of frames against each other and then against some local players while we will hold a raffle during the night with the two winners partnering Ken and Reanne in a doubles match."

The night will provide some last-minute practice for Evans, who was edged out 10-8 by Doherty in the 2015 World Chmpionship qualifiers, as she prepares to defend her world title.

This year's women's championships are taking place in Singapore with defending champion Evans flying out the following morning.

The tournament takes place at the Lagoon Billiard Room in Toa Payoh, from March 13 to 19 and is the first time it has been held outside the UK.

Highfield will also be mixing with the game's top performers at this year's World Championship at the Crucible in Sheffield.

He will be passing on coaching tips and play a few trick shots in BBC TV's 'Cue Zone' as part of their coverage of the competition.

n Tickets for the Doherty/Evans night cost £10 and are available from the Golden Cue club on 01902 404343 or from Lee Edwards on 07834 723836.
