Guru finds right path to happiness

After the previous night's heavy rainfall, waters on all pools at Heronbrook Fisheries in Slindon near Eccleshall. were coloured during the 96-peg final round six of the Heronbrook Teams of Four Winter League.

Adam Wakelin (Maver Gold Dynamite Yew) took the individual top spot on Bridge peg one with 114-2-0 of maggot-enticed F1s to 3lb.

Runner-up on Match Lake peg nine was James Howarth (Tri-Cast Guru) who poled pellet, netting a brace of carp in the 8lb bracket, bolstered by F1s to 4lb for 102-0-0.

That put him ahead of Adam Rumble (Dynamite Maver Midlands White) who pole-fished bread punch off Canal peg 52 for 97-14-0, made up of 16 carp to 9lb and five F1s.

After consistent high performances throughout the competition, Tri-Cast Guru took the team prize on the day with seven points.

Having topped the league standings since round two, they won the league overall with 43 points to pick up £500 for their achievement.

Cash prizes and Christmas fayre were up for grabs at the 70-peg Christmas All Pools Open at Packington Somers Fisheries in Meriden.

Lots of cold water had gone in due to heavy overnight rain and the carp had switched off feeding. T

The top three competitors all caught F1s on pole-fished pellet on Little Geary's Pool. Nuneaton-based Ben Lockwood was top on peg seven with 30 F1s to 3lb 8oz for 59-8-0, ahead of Steve Daley (Ridgemere AC) who had 46-5-0 from peg 13.

Third was Packington's John Adamson, fishing off peg 11, who landed 34-12-0.
