Teenager Archer arrows in on a Lea Hall victory

Teenager Ryley Archer stole the limelight in Division One of the Staffordshire and West Midlands Snooker League this week.

Lea Hall's promising 13-year-old completed a fine win against the experienced Graham Beardmore with a break of 33 during his team's home match against Pennfields A.

Further wins for Nathan Wood and the decider from ex-pro Adrian Rosa after Penn had levelled through Richard Davies and Neil Leighton saw Lea Hall home by 3-2.

Sedgley Ex Service A are just about keeping in touch with leaders and champions Brandhall Labour A after a tough 3-2 home win over Shifnal WM A with Daniel Ward (80 break), Gurdip Sidhu and Reanne Evans clinching victory as the visitors hit back through Shaun Harris (38) and Paul Lloyd.

In Division Two Kingswinford SC continue to press leaders Sedgley WMC B after a 12th consecutive victory left them just one point off top.

They had a thumping 5-0 home success over Smethwick Labour with wins for David Oakes, Peter Lewis, Steve Mason, Glen Shakespeare and Jason Colbourne.

Bloxwich Sports bounced back from last week's setback to win a hard-fought match at Pennfields B 3-2.

They had frame success for debutant Andy Price, joint most wins man Simon Gough and Lee Bannister who set the new high break target for the division with a superb 70. Penn made it respectable with wins for Craig Davies and Tony Davis.

Division Three leaders Wolverhampton Electric A moved seven points clear with a 3-2 win against their B team. Wins for Colin Payne, Eddy Payne and Karl Taylor saw them home as the B side struck with wins for Paul Dobson and Colin Davies.

Wednesfield Cons B dented British Rail A's title challenge and kept them in the promotion race with a 3-2 home win. Frame success for Rob Hughes, Ben Wright (32) and Gary Haynes completed victory as the Rail scored through Lee Thomas and Dave Brooks.

In Division Four, Essington WMC A went top by one point when they won 4-1 at home against Forty Four Club C.

Long-time leaders Codsall Firs A dropped to second after they could only beat their second string 3-2 with vital wins for Steve Platt (39), Carl Tomlinson and the decider from joint most wins man Steve Heath (32).

In Division Five, leaders Woodfield Social D enjoyed a quality 4-1 victory at Bentley Moor.

Golden Cue G maintained their promotion charge with a 4-1 home victory against Sedgley WMC D.

In Division Six, Golden Cue K had a 4-1 home win over Woodfield Social F. Darlaston Cons B harbour hopes of promotion and took a fine 4-1 home victory over Fordhouses CC C.
