Convincing wins see rivals maintain heat on leaders

Phoenix Oldbury and Ryland maintained the pressure on Division One leaders Libra Lea in the Walsall Netball League.

Phoenix battled to a 38-34 victory against Bran-Nu while Ryland beat bottom of the table Grasshoppers I 40-31.

Whitmore Green boosted their bid to avoid the drop by beating WT Wanderers 32-29.

Yendys continue to head Division Two after a 42-28 victory against bottom club Dudley III.

But West Brom I are just four points behind them, and with a game in hand, after beating third-placed beat Parkside A 55-30.

Parkside B lost their first match of the season, going down 46-39 to WT Wanderers II.

But they keep their top spot in Division Three after second-placed Reunion lost 33-31 to Grasshoppers II.

Results, Saturday section - Division 1: Phoenix Oldbury 38 Bran-Nu A 34, WT Wanderers I 29 Whitmore Green 32, Ryland 40 Grasshoppers I 31.

Division 2: Parkside A 30 West Brom I 55, Whitmore Purple 31 Crescent 19, Dudley Leisure III 28 Yendys 42, Midrange 34 Phoenix Synergy 41.

Division 3: Birmingham City 36 EMS 24, Grasshoppers II 33 Re-Union 31, Squirrels 15 West Brom III 16, Parkside B 39 WT Wanderers II 46.

In the midweek section, WM Sirens tasted defeat for the first time this season in Division One. They went down 27-21 to Midrange I. Yendys A, in fourth, beat second-placed West Brom II 23-21.

A default by Chasers puts Midrange II in a good position in Division Two as they leapfrogged Yendys B into second place, behind champions Libra Lea Aqua.

In Division Three, both Phoenix Wasps and Oldbury Phoenix I won. But it looks like Yendys C are favourites for the top spot spot with one match left.

Midrange III are favourites to lift the Division Four title after beating Midland Arrows 28-9.

Alex Ladies beat Old Halesonians 33-24 in their big Division Five clash.

Yendys Youth and Oakland both had convincing wins against lowly opponents in Division Six. Yendys beat Zeus 39-9 while Oakland saw off Barr Beacon Torches 29-6.

Midrange IV beat their nearest rivals Barr Beacon Rockets 19-15 to stay top of Division Seven.

Fusion B jumped above Rockets following their win 21-16 against Grasshoppers III.
