Aldridge aces lining up a shot at Inter Town silverware

Aldridge are eyeing their first Inter Town title since 1971 after booking a place in the semi-finals.

Lee Bannister was the last frame hero once again for Aldridge as they edged to a tense 4-3 success against Bridgnorth.

Main tour pro and world No.44 Mark Joyce showed all his class with a fluent 62 break to draw first blood for Aldridge.

Bridgnorth talisman Simon Thomas then produced an excellent frame of solid safety and potting to level the match at 1-1 with a break of 34 proving decisive in the middle of the frame.

Former professional Adrian Rosa then rolled in a superb 86 break to put Aldridge 2-1 in front with a faultless performance.

But Bridgnorth levelled again through Mick Brezwyn.

Aldridge's Stuart Mason responded with a quality 59 break to put his side in front for the third time.

Bridgnorth responded again as Chris Lewis forced a deciding frame.

But Aldridge were not to be denied and Bannister, who won a last frame decider in the previous round, delivered again as he beat Ian Postings to clinch a 4-3 win.

Local rivals Landywood await Aldridge in the last four.

The first silverware of the season has been decided as Wednesfield Cons comfortably accounted for Q Bar by an aggregate score of 486 to 336 in the Reg Oakes three-a-side competition.

The highlight of the clash was a 66 break from Cons' Paul Harrison.

Lee Thomson and Tony Davis completed the winning trio.

In the Premier Division, leaders St Johns came out on top in a tricky away match at third-placed Cannock Cons B.

St Johns clinched victory with wins for Riley Parsons, which included a fine 76 break, youngster Jack Harris and veteran Mick Faulkner in the last frame of the night.

Cannock had forced a decider through Nathan Aston and Paul Dobson, but the defeat all but ends their title hopes.

Reigning champions Wednesfield Cons A cut the leaders' gap to 10 points going into the final third of the season by defeating Lea Hall 4-1 away from home.

Comfortable wins for Simon Groves (45), Lee Thomson, Paul Harrison (47) and Tony Davis saw Cons home, Nathan Wood was on the mark for Lea Hall.

Bloxwich Memorial B are the new leaders in Division One.

They cashed in on a surprise defeat for Bentley Moor to climb into pole position courtesy of a 4-1 win at Bentley Moor B.

Simon Kelly, Bob Davis, Charlie Fletcher and Martin Reilly fired Bloxwich to victory.

Dean Cattell garbbed a consolation frame for Bentley,

Bentley Moor suffered a shock 3-2 reverse at struggling Essington WMC.

The hosts clinched a memorable victory thanks to wins from Ben Nicholls, Jason Archer and Terry Hales in the decider.

Most wins man Phil Bush (42) and Stuart Cox won for Bentley.
