Rugeley's Mark 'Mile High' Hylton today flew into the third round of the PDC UK Open - but there was a second round defeat for Wolverhampton's Wayne Jones.

Hylton came in at the second round to whitewash Spanish No 1 Antonio Alcinas 4-0 on Sky Sports and set up a meeting with Stuart Kellett tonight.

Jones came from behind to beat German Bernd Roith in the first round but fell in a final leg decider, 4-3 to Paul Amos, before last night was out.

'The Wanderer' was in the first round after a bad run in the non-televised 'floor' events this year and found himself 2-1 down to Roith.

It spurred Jones into life and he displayed flashes of what got him into the world's top 16 by taking the next three legs for a 4-2 win.

But there was to be no let up, as the 47-year-old was back at the oche at the Reebok Stadium in Bolton by the end of the night to take on Amos.

Amos whitewashed Gary Ettridge 4-0 in the preliminary round and beat Geoff Heath 4-3 to get to the second round which, again, went all the way

It was Amos took the bull to throw first and he established a lead at 1-0 and 2-1, but Jones twice equalised.

With the scores level at 2-2, Jones needed 138 to break his opponent's throw and take the lead.

His leg-deciding shot at double nine bounced off the wire allowing Amos to sneak a 3-2 advantage, checking out on double top.

Jones fought back with an 11-dart leg to level at 3-3, leaving it all on the last leg.

But Jones barely got a sniff as Amos took the game, shot and the match in a 13-dart leg.

Amos now moves on to play Dutchman Vincent van der Voort and will be joined by Hylton in the third round tonight.

Hylton had been in action at board one on the main stage and drubbed Alcinas without dropping a leg to go through.
