Wolverhampton's Wayne Jones could only muster one win from the latest runs of the PDC Players Championship in Crawley.
'The Wanderer' got past his first game on Saturday but came a cropper to Michael Jones in his first game yesterday, going out to a 6-2 defeat.
Jones had started well at the K2 Centre when the Players Championship opened for the weekend, going up first against floor regular Steve Hine.
The 47-year-old from Wednesfield displayed high scoring and clinical finishing to see off Hine, who struggled to keep up, in a 6-2 victory.
But failure to convert his chances in the second round saw him let Jamie Lewis in, the young darter dumping out the world No 15 by 6-4.
His namesake, Brierley Hill's Mark Jones, was first in action on Friday and narrowly missed out on a spot at the PDC's next European tour event.
Jones experienced a similar fate as Rugeley's Mark Hylton, as both went out at the last hurdle in the second round of the European tour qualifier.
Had they won, both would have been involved in next month's tournament in Berlin but it was not to be as three days of darts began in Crawley.
Jones had beaten Jamie Lewis 6-4 in the first round before losing 6-2 to Dean Winstanley, while Hylton saw off Shaun Griffiths 6-3 before a 6-3 defeat to Peter Hudson.
The darters then returned for Saturday's Players Championship at the same venue and Hylton reached the third round, taking home winnings of £400 in the process.
'Mile High' went out 6-3 to eventual winner Dave Chisnall, after 6-2 and 6-5 victories over Connie Finnan and Anthony Littleton respectively.
Jones, beaten 6-3 by Michael van Gerwen on Saturday, returned to the oche for yesterday's final event but he and Hylton failed to get past their opening games.
The Dudley darter really struggled against Alex Roy as he lost 6-1, while Hylton was beaten 6-2 by two-time BDO world champion Ted Hankey.
Dave Chisnall won both Players Championship events of the weekend, netting £12,000 in the process.
