Steve Farmer saw off German qualifier Kevin Munch 4-2 to reach the last 16 of the PDC World Championships.
The pair were locked at 2-2, with Munch initially having the better of proceedings.
But West Bromwich-born Farmer took the fifth set in straight legs and was equally clinical as he wrapped up the next at Alexandra Palace in London.
James Wade was at his ruthless best as he hammered Jelle Klaasen 4-0. The world No.3 was buoyant after the match and vowed to end his World Championship duck, if not this year, then later.
"I forgot how enjoyable darts can be," he said. "I never seem to do enough at the worlds, but we'll see.
"I will win it. I'm not saying this year, or next year, but I will win it eventually."
Kevin Painter also progressed with an epic 4-3 success against Mark Walsh in their second-round clash.
