Wolverhampton's Wayne Jones will take on world champion Adrian Lewis after booking his place in the last 16 of the PDC World Championships.

The No 15 seed from?Wednesfield kicked off the second round with a 4-0 victory over Dutchman Roland Scholten at Alexandra Palace last night.

After edging a tight opening set, Jones powered to victory by dropping just one more leg out of 10 to progress, and will now face Lewis.

Lewis beat Scot Robert Thornton 4-2 in the second match of the evening but admitted he failed to "get out of second gear."

And Jones believes he could "take some stopping" when he steps up to the oche with the reigning title holder next Wednesday night.

He said: "I'm absolutely delighted to be through. I need to improve after Christmas but the most important thing is that I'm coming back.

"I felt good before I went up but, in the first set, I couldn't hit a double. I got away with it and played quite well after that first set.

"I could see that Roland was struggling and after winning the second set I didn't think I was going to lose the game.

"I had to concentrate, hold my throw and try to break him. I think I played really well in the last two sets and I need to kick in a bit quicker next time.

"It's still over a 90 average even with a poor first set so my game is there, as long as I dont mess around, so I'll try and tighten up my finishing.

"If I can kick in straight away in the next round, I will take some stopping."
