Wolverhampton's Wayne Jones has admitted he "chucked it away" after losing a two-leg lead to go out of the Grand Slam of Darts in the first knockout stages.

Jones let an 8-6 lead slip to lose 10-8 to Terry Jenkins in the last 16 at Wolverhampton Civic Hall last night, also missing a dart at double 16 to level the game at 9-9.

'The Wanderer' hit four 180s on the way to clocking up eight legs – the same in one match than he had managed in the three previous group games combined.

But Jones bowed out to 'the Bull,' who now progresses to the quarter-finals on Saturday to play Gary Anderson, who thumped last year's Grand Slam finalist James Wade 10-3 last night.

And the rest of the tournament will be too painful to watch at the Civic for Jones, who has vowed to stay and home and do the housework instead!

He said: "I am not being funny but I think the better player lost, I chucked it away. I don't know what went wrong. It's such a stupid game sometimes!

"I can't take it back and I should have done something at the time, because the game was there to win. I felt better than I played but I think I deserved more than I got and it's frustrating.

"It's my own fault, I started to get fed up with hitting 60s. It should have been 100, 140, 60 will win you nothing. Too many missed doubles, again. But even then I should have won.

"If I could have just converted those 60s into 100s, I probably would have won 10-5 or 10-6.

"The crowd were there with me all of the time and they were brilliant, as they always are. But that's me done for the week, I am going to concentrate on the housework now!"
