Singer Ed Sheeran on course for 43rd UK top 10 single with Old Phone
It comes after the singer announced new album Play and a run of gigs at Portman Road in Ipswich.

Singer Ed Sheeran is on course to score his 43rd UK top 10 single with Old Phone, the Official Charts Company has said.
It comes after the 34-year-old announced his new album Play will be released on September 12.
Sheeran, who is a lifelong Ipswich Town fan and minority owner of the club, will also play three concerts at Portman Road in July, the home of the relegated Premier League football team.
Based on preliminary sales and early streaming reports, the Official Charts Company predicts Old Phone, which will feature on the upcoming album, will make its UK singles chart debut at number nine, with previous release Azizam backed to jump two places to number two.
Old Phone tells the story of a person restarting an unused device and finding messages from a lost friend, an ex, and family, and is produced by US producer Blake Slatkin and Iranian musician Ilya Salmanzadeh.
Some of Sheeran’s previous top 10 tracks have included the likes of The A Team, Lego House, Sing, Don’t, and Shape Of You.
Elsewhere, the Official Charts Company says Alex Warren’s Ordinary is likely to increase its run at the top of the singles chart to eight weeks, with the track being the longest-running number one single of 2025 so far.
Charts officials predict the rest of the singles chart top five will be made up of Chappell Roan’s Pink Pony Club (three), WizTheMc and Bees And Honey’s Show Me Love (four), and Ravyn Lenae’s Love Me Not (five).
