BUS CHANGES A LET DOWN

The proposed alterations to the Bridgnorth to Wolverhampton bus service as set out on the Arriva website, will be greeted with disappointment by many of those who use it.

I imagine passengers were hoping for an improvement, given the government's 'bus revolution' pledge in the King's Speech.

It's probably the most important service for residents of Bridgnorth, bringing in visitors, but giving residents access to rail and metro and onward bus travel at Wolverhampton.

Good connectivity is vital for accessing jobs, training, education and leisure and promoting the town's commercial success. Shropshire Council has received around £4m of government funding, plus £1.8m from the previous regime to revitalise bus services. This won't fulfil it's ambitious Bus Improvement Plan, or help the commitment to the 'climate change emergency', but it could mitigate against cuts to existing services.
