LETTER: A bizarre week

A reader discusses the European Super League proposals.

Fans hold up a banner protesting against the European Super League

Following a week which I could only describe as bizarre, I for one am pleased that for the time being common sense has prevailed. However I would wonder if anyone could answer these two questions; does anyone think that the FA may have been compliant with the news of the breakaway, so that they could hide bad news, so to speak, that being the fact they were about to disband the oldest league in the country – the West Midlands region league formerly the Birmingham league?

Secondly, getting back to the Super League (so-called), well we all know that without officials, you have no game, so I was just wondering, with all their plans obviously in place, whether or not it involved referees from this country?
