LETTER: Football club's situation worrying

Now 76, I have been a Wolves fan for over 60 years. I have followed them through the good and the bad times.

As a boy I would get up early in the morning to listen to the crackly radio broadcasts as Wolves played games in Europe, what a team they were.

Regarding the current situation, or should I say form, it is worrying. I always said that last season luck was with the team as injuries were minimal and the squad was small. Since then things have gone awry.

Why did we sell two of the best players to Spurs and Liverpool? It made no sense. The format used by Nuno was always going to be found out, absorb the pressure then counter attack, you can only do this for so long. The players Nuno has brought in are not proven, he talks a lot about planning for the future, but there is no guarantee they will make the grade, or even stay at the club. Recalling players considered not good enough, hence being let out, also raises questions. We have lost our star player and only hope he comes back strong and starts scoring again, but surely after a fractured skull his confidence when going for tight headers will be tested?

If Wolves are to stay in the top flight, and I fear they may not on present form, Fosun must come up with the cash for at least two really good players to tie the team together as a tight unit. Currently the various formations have all failed, so I have to ask the question, has Nuno taken Wolves as far as he can?
