One ambulance was called to the scene of the collision on Victoria Square at about 3.42pm on Tuesday.

The woman was checked over by paramedics before being taken to hospital.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 3.42pm to reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a bus on Victoria Square, Wolverhampton.

"One ambulance attended the scene. The pedestrian, a woman, was assessed and conveyed to New Cross Hospital as a precaution for further checks."

Metro services were brought to a halt on the nearby Pipers Row due to an "emergency vehicle blocking the tracks".

West Midlands Metro reported the incident at about 4pm on Tuesday.

Writing to X, formerly Twitter, it warned passengers of a medical emergency impacting its services.

It said trams were unable to run between Pipers Row and Wolverhampton Station.

In an update at about 4.15pm, West Midlands Metro said trams were running between Wolverhampton Station and Edgbaston Village.

It however said there were "some delays" due to a tram not being in service.
