And police came across this motorist driving a Ford Mondeo on the motorway near junction two sporting the large, bright yellow sticker.

He was arrested by police.

Officers tweeted: "Racing stripes normally on the panels not the screen.

"One of many faults with this dangerous vehicle stopped on the #projectedward site."

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "Central Motorway Patrol Group stopped a Ford Mondeo as part of a multi-agency check.

"The driver was found to be disqualified from driving until 2018.

"He has been arrested and now charged with driving whilst disqualified, no insurance, using a vehicle in a dangerous condition and obstructing an officer in the execution of his duty.

"The vehicle has also been seized."

The section of motorway between Oldbury and West Bromwich is currently part of a major roadworks scheme.
