Frozen food supermarket chain Farmfoods has had plans to move into a unit on the Mitre Retail Park in Wolverhampton city centre.
The retail park off Bilston Road is already home to stores such as Go Outdoors and the Energie Fitness gym, with Farmoods set to take over the former Carpetright store.
The carpet store was among several stores that were forced to close in June last year after Carpetright went into administration.
An application to change the use of the unit to be able to sell food has now been approved by planners at City of Wolverhampton Council after it was submitted in October last year.
The move would create 20 jobs, according to the application by Savills on behalf of Farmfoods.

A report outlining the council’s approval said: The three retail units [on the Mitre Retail Park] have operated effectively with no known significant adverse impacts to the local area.
The proposal would allow these to continue trading, but with the ability for unit 2, currently occupied by Carpetright, to display and sell frozen food and drink.
“Whilst the site is accessible by public transport, it is anticipated that the option of selling frozen food and drink, subsequently allowing a Farmfoods, or other equivalent occupier, to trade from this unit, does have the potential to generate some additional parking demand above that presented by the former Carpetright use.
“That being said, this increase would be limited, and the existing parking provision provided is considered sufficient to cater to this additional demand, even when it is shared amongst the parking demand from the adjacent units.”
