The plans are being presented to the planning committee at Lichfield District Council where planning officers have recommended that councillors approve the application.
The new nine hole course will be themed around local landmarks in the district including the National Memorial Arboretum and the Garrick Theatre.
The new golf course will operate in the same boundary as the existing course within Beacon Park. Beacon Park was created in 1859, since its creation it has extended numerous times and now forms 69 acres.
No objections have been raised by statutory consultees and no comments on the plans have been made by residents. It is expected that residents will make use of Shaw Lane Car Park and Greenhough Car Park when using the facility.
In their report to councillors, planning officers state: “In this instance, the proposed replacement of an existing outdoor sports and recreational facility with a new and improved one will only enhance the economic, social and environmental benefits that the existing facility already delivers.
“The new adventure golf course will likely be more attractive to tourists as a more interesting and engaging activity within Beacon Park. It will also be an attraction that local residents visit, which they can do utilising adjacent public car parks or walking routes, thus minimising private motor vehicle journeys.”
The planning committee at Lichfield District Cocuncil are set to determine the application at their next meeting on Monday 7 April at 6pm at the council offices on Frog Lane.
