The plans are just a number of applications that have been submitted to the authority in recent weeks.

The Islamic Centre planning application has been submitted to the authority for a change of use at a building on Stourbridge Road, which is currently a storage warehouse.

The building is at the rear of an ironmongery specialist opposite the Faizan E Farooq E Azam mosque.

Plans submitted with the application show the new centre would have four classrooms plus male and female hall areas.

The only parking on site will be for staff and classrooms would be in use during off-peak periods, no more than six funerals would take place each month.

A resident of nearby Ivanhoe Street has lodged an objection to the proposal, describing the current levels of traffic in the area as a ‘huge concern’ while cars are already parking on double yellow lines.

The site of a former McDonald’s restaurant could be home to a new petrol station in Brierley Hill if a planning application is approved.

Dudley Council has received a proposal for a new filling station including eight EV charging points and shop on vacant brownfield land on Level Street.

The application includes a request for permission to demolish existing buildings on the overgrown vacant site which used to be occupied by a drive-thru McDonald’s, which was demolished around 15 years ago.

A statement supporting the application says the new shop and filling station will create around 20 new jobs.

Council planners have also been asked to consider an application for four new apartments in Halesowen.

The new building will be to the rear of Melbourne Road, providing four new dwellings and a courtyard area.

The proposed new two-storey building would be constructed on land currently used for car parking.

A statement supporting the application said: “The building will be of contemporary appearance with white rendered walls. The building will have a flat roof housing a battery of solar panels. There will be no access to the roof area but for maintenance.”
