Homes plan for Brierley Hill is thrown out
Plans for 57 new homes on a former industrial estate have been refused by councillors this evening.
Dudley Council's development control committee refused the plans for 35 houses and 22 apartments to be built on the site of a former car body repair specialist BodyKraft.
The decision was made because insufficient information was present to indicate noise levels from an opposing business wouldn't be an issue.
In the proposal a barrier was being discussed to stamp out any noise from neighbouring Hammond Chemicals.
Housing developer Westleigh Partnerships Ltd had been hoping to build the properties on Canal Street in Brierley Hill.
In the build up to the council decision neighbouring business Hammond Chemicals, located next to the site, released a statement opposing the proposals.
It said: “We are now extremely concerned that placing the dwellings so close to our boundary will lead to unnecessary conflict between our ongoing and future industrial activities and these residents.”
Meanwhile, a decision on plans for 100 new homes at a former tip site has been delayed.
A request for further information on the contaminated land meant the proposal for Real Homes One Limited to be able to build up to 100 homes in Bourne Street, Coseley, will now be considered at a future meeting.
