A campaign has been launched by Marco Longhi MP and West Midlands Mayor Andy Street to bring The Robins back to Dudley after years playing away from the town.

And Dudley Council leader Patrick Harley said a potential site for a new ground had now been identified.

He also revealed the council was preparing to enter talks with the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) over securing a slice of legacy funding from the Commonwealth Games to kick start the project.

Mr Harley told the Star: "We would love to bring the club back to the town and a potential site has now been identified, which myself and Marco have been to see.

"Things are moving forward and we are hoping to speak with the club shortly and start some feasibility work on the site. Although it is early days, these are exciting times and the site itself looks very promising.
