Cat put down after being shot with pellet in Stourport

An appeal has been launched by police after a cat had to be put down after it was shot with a pellet.

Officers in Stourport are looking for witnesses after the 'cruel' incident in Lucy Baldwin Close.

It happened between 9.30am and 11am on Saturday, September 23 when the owner discovered her cat injured on the driveway.

The cat was taken to a vet butt was put to sleep as a result of the injury suffered.

Now police have launched an investigation into the incident.

PC Tony Hunt of West Mercia Police said: "This is a cruel incident that has caused understandable distress to the owner.

"The is kind of criminal behaviour is totally unacceptable and I urge anyone with information or anybody who may have witnessed suspicious behaviour in the area at the time to contact us on 101, quoting incident 365s of September 23."
