Baby dies after cardiac arrest at West Midland Safari Park
A baby has died after going into cardiac arrest at West Midland Safari Park.
The two-month-old girl died in hospital after being taken ill at the Bewdley attraction on Easter Sunday.
Park staff helped treat the baby before The Midlands Air Ambulance arrived alongside emergency services at around 11.20am.
Safari park officials took to social media to alert people after police and ambulances arrived.
West Mercia Police said officers attended to support paramedics when the baby was taken ill.
Inspector Gurjit Singh, of West Mercia Police, said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the girl at this tragic time.
"Police officers are offering them support.
"I would like to thank staff and visitors at the park for their support and understanding while emergency services attended to the girl.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious at this time."
A West Midland Safari Park statement added: "Park staff have dealt with an incident this morning where a baby was taken ill and suffered a cardiac arrest.
"Trained park staff immediately attended and provided care until emergency services arrived and took care of the situation.
"Our thoughts are with the family at this time."
