Chefs cooked up a mix of treats when Sunrise of Tettenhall opened its doors to dish out platefuls of delicious treats.

Its week-long Taste of Sunrise campaign saw care home residents join with the community to hear about the importance of nutritious meals for older people.

Jenny Billingsley, director of community relations, said: "We all had a wonderful time. The whole day was a great opportunity to celebrate Taste of Sunrise and a chance to educate people about the need for a nutritious diet as you grow older.

"We want to thank our dining team who work hard every day to ensure every single resident receives exceptional food which meets their individual needs and that our residents enjoy the highest quality of care. We are so proud of them.

"Dining for a lot of our residents is the focal part of the day and it is important that what they are served gives them something to look forward to."

Visitors and residents had the chance to sample healthy food on Monday, with a special lunchtime buffet prepared by the Wergs Road home's award-winning dining team.

The four-hour event was held during Nutrition and Hydration Week, which encourages communities across the country to serve a meal to their friends and neighbours.

Staff and residents also celebrated International Women's Day, which saw groups in countries worldwide celebrate the achievements of women last Thursday.

They enjoyed inspiring talks, including from pupils at Wolverhampton Girls' High School, and shared their own experiences.
