Fire wrecks lorries at industrial yard in Bilston

A severe fire wrecked two lorries at an industrial yard in Bilston sending smoke billowing into the night sky.

Firefighters were called to the yard to the rear of Wilcox Industrial Supply Co in the early hours today.

Flames had caused significant damage to two lorries in the yard off Beldray Road.

Crews from Willenhall and Bilston fire stations worked to bring the blaze under control.

Pictures were tweeted showing how the blaze wrecked the lorries.

Hoses were used to fire water inside to quell the flames.

Smoke rose from the burning vehicles as crews worked at the scene.

Crews had been alerted to the fire at around 1.10am.

One lorry is thought to have suffered damage to around 80 per cent of the vehicle with the second having damage to the cab.

There was also slight damage to a nearby digger.

Crews managed to work to ensure the flames did not spread to buildings at the company.

The blaze had been extinguished at around 2.15am.

Fire investigators are looking into the circumstances of the blaze. The cause is unknown at this stage.
