Wolverhampton Council has netted more than £2.4 million from three bus lane cameras in just over four years.

Most prolific are the two cameras in Victoria Square, at the junction between Queen Street, Pipers Row and Berry Street.

Between them, the two cameras on either side of the road generated almost £1.85 million during the period from April 2020 to September 2024. 

Councillor Qaiser Azeem, cabinet member for transport, told a meeting of Wolverhampton that the third most prolific in the city was the one in High Street, Wednesfield, which generated £552,308.over the same period.

Between them, the three cameras have brought in an average of more than £46,000 a month in fines.

Of the two cameras in Victoria Square, it was the north-bound one, heading left from the Queen Street junction in the direction of Lichfield Street, which generated the most money, issuing tickets totalling £1,075,248 .
