Family of young Birmingham New Road crash victims relive pain ahead of anniversary
The family of two boys who were killed in a horror crash have said they are suffering all over again as they prepare to mark the first anniversary of their deaths.
Sanjay Singh, aged 10, was killed alongside his 23-month-old brother Pawanveer in a crash on the Birmingham New Road in Wolverhampton last March.
They were travelling with their mother Arathi in her BMW when it collided with a car coming the other way as she went to turn into Lawnswood Avenue.
Six people have been arrested over the crash but no-one has yet been charged.
It promises to be an emotional week for the grief-stricken family from Sedgley as they prepare to attend a memorial service at Sanjay's school and a candlelit vigil on Saturday, the first anniversary of their deaths.
Arathi's cousin Rikki Nehar said the looming anniversary has brought the pain back.
She said: "It's like you start to feel you are moving on and moving forward and getting on with things, but then as the month is drawing in, and now we're into the month, it has brought it all back.
"It's gut-wrenching. I think it will get worse over the next few days. There are no words to describe it."
A memorial service will be held at Cotwall End Primary School in Sedgley before the vigil at the site of the crash from 6pm, which members of the public are invited to attend.
Ms Nehar said the lengthy police investigation into the crash has made it more difficult for the family to recover.
The six who were arrested, including two on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, were all released under investigation.
DC Karl Davies, from West Midlands Police's serious collision investigation unit, said when the latest arrests were made in September the force was "determined as ever to get answers for the family of Pawanveer and Sanjay".
Ms Nehar said: "There has got to be enough (evidence) to establish what went on and who was involved.
"It would be nice to be given information that they have got something solid."
